Thriving Island are holistic wellness classes taught at Salsbury's Organic Garden Supply on Mount Desert Island, Maine with Herbalist and Wellness Practitioner, Jennifer May. They are intended to support the rekindling of practical folk medicine in everyday life through connection in community.
The first series is on Botanical First Aid.
On the fourth Thursday evening of the month, beginning in May 2025, Jennifer will teach a class on topics pertinent to the summer season. Classes will run about 90 minutes, with a one hour talk which includes a "makers demonstration", followed by time for questions and answers. Guests will come away with a take home gift and recipe at each class.
Classes begin at 5:30pm pm and will run to about 7:00pm. They will be held at Salsbury's Organic Garden Supply in Town Hill (Bar Harbor) on Mount Desert Island.
The fee for each class is $20 per person. Space for each class is limited to 24 people. Minimum number to hold the class is 5.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of cancellation that occurs within 24 hours of the class start time, a full refund will be issues. No refund will be issued if less than 24 hours notice is given.

Botanical First Aid for the Skin
Gift: botanical wound lineament
We will explore the subject of topical first aid care with herbs for wounds, insect bites, and burns. There will be a demonstration on making an herbal lineament and guidance on how to work with lineaments. Each guest will receive a take home gift of a botanical lineament along with a recipe to create your own at home.

Botanical First Aid for Pain & Inflammation
Gift: botanical muscle salve
We will explore the subject of aches, pain, and inflammation pertaining to muscles and joints. There will be a demonstration on making an herbal infused salve that increases circulation and warmth to sore tissues. Each guest will receive a take home gift of an herbal muscle salve along with a recipe to create your own at home.
