Gather Downeast

Connection Weaving Classes for Homeschool children and their parents.

Gather Downeast celebrates connection in community and building relationship with the natural world.  There is an emphasis on emotional awareness and responsibility, as well as bartering system, all supported through connection with plants.

Gather is open to children and parents.  While these gatherings were created with the homeschooling community in  mind, they are open to everyone with interest.   These Gathering classes will take place two afternoons each month for about 1 to 2 hours in the Downeast, Maine area (Cherryfield or Milbridge).  Gathering classes are for both children and parents.

Parents must remain present throughout the class.

Specific dates and locations to be announced.

Please note that Gather Downeast is NOT a program. It is a casual meet up of interested children and their parents who would like to connect around the world of nature and plants as doorways.

Gatherings are led by local herbalist, Jennifer May.  Each gathering will feature a plant which we will explore through experiential exercises.  We will talk about plant qualities, medicinal properties, and foster greater relationship with our plant kin.  An emphasis on emotional awareness through working with plants will be emphasized.

Class fee is barter system based.   This may be a monetary donation (there will be a recommend donation scale) or may be something else that you wish to barter.  Do you grow wonderful tomatoes?  Do you make herbal salves?  Perhaps you have herb seedling plants to share?

The only requirements are that it be a reasonable exchange for value and that the children attending participate in choosing the barter.

Tea will be served at each gathering, which allows for direct experience of plants.  We ask that you bring a tea cup (fostering responsibility) to each gathering so that you can enjoy fresh herbal tea while we gather.  Forget your cup?  That's ok.  You can ask to  borrow one (fostering asking for support).

Classes may include movement, song, foraging, and various kinds of crafting.
